Web Development

A web presence built to last

Websites and web applications that load fast, work for everyone and stay maintainable — built to be found, understood and used.

Web development for businesses

Web development covers everything your business shows the world through a browser: the marketing site, the pages that capture enquiries, the client login area and the applications your audience uses directly.

It differs from custom software in intent. Custom software solves an internal process problem; web development solves a problem of presence, credibility and conversion — how someone who has never heard of you finds you, understands what you do and decides to get in touch.

In practice the two meet: a client portal is both web presence and internal system. If your problem is mostly internal process, start with the custom software page; if it is mostly acquisition and perception, you are in the right place.

What we build

Business websites

For most companies the website is the first commercial conversation. It needs to load quickly, say clearly what you do and make the next step obvious.

We build sites your team can maintain, structured for search from the outset — heading hierarchy, structured data, stable URLs, sensible internal linking — rather than optimisation bolted on at the end.

  • Content structured for search intent
  • Performance and Core Web Vitals
  • Accessibility as a requirement, not an extra
  • Multilingual versions with correct hreflang

Conversion pages

Pages built around a single action: request a quote, book a call, subscribe. Anything that does not serve that action is noise.

We wire the forms into your commercial flow and measure what happens, so the next round of decisions rests on data rather than opinion.

  • Forms connected to your CRM or inbox
  • Conversion tracking that actually reports
  • Message and layout testing
  • Fast on a mobile connection

Client portals and login areas

An authenticated space where each client sees what concerns them: documents, invoices, case status, open requests.

This is where web presence turns into operations — it cuts repetitive phone and email chasing and gives clients genuine self-service.

  • Authentication and permission management
  • Per-client documents and history
  • Automatic notifications and alerts
  • Connected to the systems you already run

Public web applications

Tools your audience uses directly: calculators, booking flows, configurators, catalogue search, quote builders.

Unlike a static page these carry logic and state, so they need the same engineering care as an internal application — with the added requirement of standing up to traffic you do not control.

  • Calculators and configurators
  • Online booking and scheduling
  • Search and filtering over catalogues
  • Resilience under traffic spikes

What makes a web project worth doing properly

Not every web project needs the same investment. These are the signals that usually justify custom development over a template.

Worth it when

  • The site is a real commercial channel, not a digital business card
  • You need speed and solid technical SEO to compete in search
  • There are several languages or markets to serve properly
  • It has to integrate with internal or billing systems
  • Content is growing and needs structure, not more loose pages
  • Accessibility is a legal or contractual requirement

Possibly not worth it when

  • A simple page on a site builder covers it and search is not a goal
  • There is no content and nobody to produce it
  • The aim is presence alone, with no commercial objective behind it
  • The budget covers the build but not content upkeep afterwards

How we work

From framing to launch, with validation at each step.

  1. 01

    Framing

We understand the audience, the search competition and the commercial goal, then agree the page structure and priorities.

  2. 02

    Design

We design the interface and content hierarchy, validated as a prototype before implementation begins.

  3. 03

    Build

We implement with performance, accessibility and technical SEO in mind, reviewed on a staging environment.

  4. 04

    Launch and iterate

We publish, watch the real numbers and adjust based on how visitors actually behave.

Technology

We use server rendering and static generation so pages arrive ready in the browser — better for visitors and for anything indexing them.

Where it typically applies

Common shapes a web project takes. These are illustrative of the kind of work we do.

Website rebuild

Replacing a slow, hard-to-update site with a fast foundation whose content structure can grow in search over time.

Multilingual presence

Serving several markets with genuinely localized content per language, correct canonicals and reciprocal hreflang — not machine translation.

Client area

Giving clients self-service access to documents and case status, connected to the systems already in place.

Editorial platform

A content foundation that supports regular publishing, organised by topic and linked through to the commercial pages.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from custom software?

Intent. Web development addresses presence, acquisition and the relationship with people outside your company; custom software addresses internal processes. Many projects involve both — a client portal is the obvious example — and in those cases we handle the whole thing.

Will you use WordPress?

Usually not. We build with React and Next.js, which give better performance and far more control over technical SEO. If your team needs to edit content frequently, we agree an editing approach that fits the case rather than assuming one.

Will the site rank on Google?

A well-built site is necessary but not sufficient. We guarantee the technical foundation — speed, structure, structured data, sitemap, hreflang. Rankings also depend on content and authority, which build over time.

Can we update the content ourselves?

Yes. We agree up front which parts your team needs to edit and prepare the site for that, rather than leaving everything dependent on us.

How long does it take?

A well-scoped business website typically takes a few weeks. Portals and web applications depend on scope and are estimated after the framing stage.
